Joana Fernandes holds a degree (2012) and master’s degree (2014) in Environmental Science and Technology (FCUP- UP) and a PhD in Biomedical Sciences (ICBAS – UP, 2021).
In the last years, Joana studied the application of different biodegradation approaches to remove emerging pollutants from contaminated environments and their effect on the community dynamics. Currently, she has been working in the isolation, cultivation and identification of microorganisms with different biotechnological purposes.
